On 9/18/17 Alex Mohr and I met with Marcia Moore, Clerk of Hancock County Courts to discuss the legality of having a registration drive at the high school as well as hold a "meet the candidate" town hall style meeting. While we were at the Greenfield court we discussed dates, candidates, and much more. We now have a list of offices open for reelection next year as well as the names and emails of the Democrat and Republican leaders in Hancock County. It is currently our plan to schedule a registration drive during lab sometime in January. It is our hope that a significant number of eligible students will then register and perhaps show others how to register as well.
In February, we plan to meet with Ms. Moore again to get list of official candidates. After we have said list we plan on contacting the campaigns to inform them on an opportunity to speak at the high school. Both of the plans have been accepted by in school administration and the next step is to contact district administration.

For my pitch to administrators, my partner and I prepared a Google slide. With it we included information regarding registration drives as well as important dates such as when registration end and begins as well as primary election dates. We discussed our goal of increasing youth voter turnout through increased registration and that later in the year we would like for the school to hold town hall style meetings. It was very important to give present a good image to administrators so I dressed up and made sure that I was professional. A lot of the feedback I got back was positive and the general concern amongst most regarded the legality of the project. Because of that, my partner and I are meeting with the Hancock County Election Clerk at the Hancock County Courthouse on September 18th. That conversation will then shape the rest of the project. If all goes to plan, A registration will be held sometime around January and a town-hall will be planned for May.
For my first project, I wanted to do something that involves a topic that I'm very passionate about. Politics. More specifically involving the low turnout rate that the country has for elections. What this project aims to do is to increase youth voter registration and to promote participation for next years (and all following) midterm elections.
